Jhameel - Lost One [over Hov’s Lost One from Kingdom Come]
I love this song. I love Jhameel too - unlike other artists, I like everything he releases. The Dance EP was my shit this past summer, as was The Human Condition about a year ago. I hope he gets big [woah] I feel like he is not getting the recognition he deserves yet. It would be cool to see him do a couple more projects like this one, especially with Pigeons & Planes again. I dunno. I downloaded this song when it came out [err end of Jan, I think?] and still listen to it everyday… great song to drive too as well.
so one time last year I was reading Bitch magazine “the feminist response to pop culture.” there were a couple articles on alice from alice in wonderland and the various projects she has inspired. a lot of said projects were books so I went nuts on amazon and bought them all — a lot of them actually sucked, I haven’t finished them a year later even though I attempt to at least once a month. one of the books that was awesome was The Lost Girls by Alan Moore and Melinda Gebbie. I knew that it was a graphic novel and chronicled the relationships between Alice from alice in wonderland, Dorothy from wizard of oz, and Wendy from peter pan, but that was really it. I had it mailed to my sorority house and opened it during an all chapter meeting in a group of oh 100+ girls. The Lost Girls is erotica and I opened the book to an orgy scene, obviously.
The Lost Girls is one of the best books I have ever read. It is fantastic. It is the most beautiful book I own. The allusions to various authors and the tiny details are incredible. I have recommended it to a lot of people but the pornographic aspect of the books turns the majority of them away which is unfortunate. Hopefully they’ll all read it later…
anyways. I think this list of books is interesting. Erotic novels are never discussed. Why is sex so taboo? Erotic (not romance) novels can written beautifully but they aren’t really given the respect they deserve. Hmmm. I’ll read these and see what I think.
I started reading anthropology of an american girl like 5 months ago and hate it. Need to finish it. whats wrong with me. everyone loves this book.
“The worst part was that, as the years passed, these memories became, in the way you kept them in a secret box in your head, taking them out every so often to turn them over and over, something like dear possessions. They were the key to your unhappiness. They were the evidence that life wasn’t fair. If you weren’t a lucky child, you didn’t know you weren’t lucky until you got older. And then it was all you ever thought about.”—The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides
